"As a young man,Thomas Haley was a steel worker on high rise buildings and had a bad accident while working. His head was smashed by two steel girders. He was ill for many years...even blind for a while, but recovered completely. He had the first Workmans Compensation case, which he won. At his death, he was a Newark fireman in the 13th company...Roseville area. Some mystery around his death. Was an accident in his home, while he was there alone. Story I heard was that he had been drinking, tried to light an old gas lamp, couldnt and died from the fumes"
